Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency 911 calls, fire alarms, and medical requests with high accuracy and speed.
- Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical services units to incident locations using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all departmental activities, calls for service, and unit status.
- Monitor radio frequencies for suspicious activity, traffic violations, and officer safety alerts.
- Coordinate with field units to provide real-time traffic updates, weather conditions, and resource allocation during active incidents.
- Perform quality control checks on calls to ensure compliance with departmental protocols and standards.
- Assist in the de-escalation of volatile situations via telephone when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or hold permanent resident status.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 35 WPM) with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional under high-pressure and stressful conditions.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, drug screen, and medical examination.
