Responsibilities
- Monitor and Respond: Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone, radio, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Dispatch Units: Coordinate the response of law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to incidents based on location and resource availability.
- Information Management: Accurately gather and relay incident details, including location, nature of the call, and individuals involved.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise logs and records of all dispatched activities and incidents in the CAD system.
- Emergency Support: Provide critical support during high-stress situations, including natural disasters or civil emergencies.
- Unit Coordination: Monitor patrol units in the field and reassign resources as necessary to meet changing demands.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- License: Valid, current State of Nevada Driver's License required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
- Technology: Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new software systems quickly.
- Stability: No more than two (2) quit events in the last three (3) years; no recent terminations for cause.
- Background: Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, drug screen, and psychological evaluation.
