Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to incident locations using two-way radios and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of calls, incidents, and unit status.
- Monitor status boards and provide real-time updates to field units.
- Assist senior dispatchers in learning department protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Provide information to the public regarding police services and non-emergency assistance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a criminal history check and polygraph examination.
- Strong ability to multitask and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Fluency in English (bilingual candidates encouraged to apply).
