Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with accuracy and urgency
- Operate radio systems and multi-line telephones to coordinate police, fire, and EMS responses
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems for efficient resource deployment
- Provide critical information to officers and first responders during incidents
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Collaborate with other agencies and departments during multi-jurisdictional incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with accuracy
- Valid Texas driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- Clear communication skills in English (bilingual Spanish preferred)
