Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with precise location and incident details
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation per department protocols
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (fire, EMS, hospitals) during multi-incident responses
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Operate radio equipment and maintain constant communication with field units
- Adhere to strict confidentiality standards for sensitive information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments with composure
- Proficient in computer applications (MS Office, CAD/RMS systems)
- Clear communication skills with excellent diction and listening abilities
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Valid Indiana driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified through pre-employment test)
