Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using two-way radio and computer-aided dispatch systems.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and radio traffic to identify and respond to developing situations.
- Maintain detailed logs of calls, activities, and unit status in computer systems.
- Provide information, directions, and assistance to citizens and other agencies during emergencies.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee phase.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess permanent residency status.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including fingerprinting and drug screening.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.
- Basic computer literacy and typing skills.
- Must be available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
