Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce compliance with public health regulations in food service establishments, childcare facilities, and healthcare institutions
- Conduct routine inspections and investigations to identify potential health hazards and violations
- Develop corrective action plans for non-compliant entities and provide technical guidance
- Collaborate with state health agencies during outbreak investigations and emergency responses
- Prepare detailed compliance reports and maintain accurate regulatory documentation
- Train business owners and staff on health code requirements and best practices
- Respond to citizen complaints and public inquiries regarding health regulation violations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of regulatory compliance experience in government or public health sector
- Valid Florida Registered Sanitarian (RS) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code, Florida Sanitation Code, and OSHA regulations
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to explain complex regulations to diverse audiences
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during emergency responses
- Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
