Responsibilities
- Develop and implement emergency response protocols for public health crises including pandemics, natural disasters, and bioterrorism threats
- Coordinate multi-agency response efforts with SF Fire Department, Police Department, and FEMA representatives
- Lead incident command system operations during declared emergencies
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for vulnerable populations
- Manage emergency stockpiles of medical supplies and PPE
- Develop public communications strategies during health emergencies
- Train frontline healthcare workers in emergency response protocols
- Analyze post-event data to improve future response strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years experience in public health emergency response or crisis management
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or equivalent credential
- Proven expertise in Incident Command System (ICS) and NIMS protocols
- Strong knowledge of California public health emergency statutes
- Experience managing cross-functional teams during high-pressure situations
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences
- Ability to work rotating shifts and be on-call 24/7 during emergencies
