Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public pools
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce city/county regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain compliance records
- Provide educational outreach to businesses and community groups
- Collaborate with state health agencies on emerging public health threats
- Testify in legal proceedings related to health code violations
- Develop corrective action plans for non-compliant facilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in health inspection or regulatory compliance
- Valid Kansas Food Protection Manager certification
- Strong knowledge of local/state health codes and OSHA standards
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends for inspections
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean record
- Certified Food Safety Instructor preferred
