Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce regulatory compliance
- Issue violation notices and develop corrective action plans
- Provide public education on health regulations and best practices
- Collaborate with state agencies during disease outbreak investigations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding health code violations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of field inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of California Health & Safety Code and FDA Food Code
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid California Class C driver's license
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Proficiency in inspection software and database management
