Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public accommodations
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce local health codes
- Collect environmental samples and analyze potential health hazards
- Provide technical guidance to business owners on compliance requirements
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Collaborate with epidemiologists during disease outbreak investigations
- Testify as an expert witness in regulatory enforcement proceedings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Valid Pennsylvania Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Minimum 2 years of regulatory inspection experience
- Knowledge of PA Code Title 28 (Public Health Code)
- Strong communication skills for diverse community interactions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and traverse varied inspection sites
