Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and emergency inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public health venues
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce local, state, and federal regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate digital records
- Educate business owners and community members on health safety protocols
- Collaborate with emergency response teams during public health crises
- Participate in disease surveillance and outbreak prevention initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- Certified Registered Sanitarian (CRS) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Minimum 2 years experience in health inspections or regulatory compliance
- Valid Louisiana driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and Louisiana Sanitation Regulations
- Exceptional communication skills for public education and conflict resolution
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for emergency response
