Responsibilities
- Investigate disease outbreaks through field interviews and evidence collection
- Coordinate with healthcare providers and laboratories to track transmission patterns
- Develop and implement containment protocols for public health emergencies
- Document cases using NC Health Data Exchange and state reporting systems
- Conduct community outreach and education during health crises
- Collaborate with federal agencies (CDC, FDA) on multi-jurisdictional responses
- Analyze epidemiological data to identify emerging health trends
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of investigative or public health experience
- Certified in Incident Command System (ICS-300) or willing to obtain within 30 days
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with reliable transportation
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (SPSS, R, or Epi-Info)
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends during emergencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with NC Health Data preferred
