The City of Dallas is urgently seeking a dedicated Public Health Specialist to join our emergency response team. This critical role requires immediate deployment to address public health crises in our community. As a key member of the Dallas Health Department, you will lead initiatives to protect and improve the well-being of Dallas residents during urgent public health emergencies. Responsibilities
- Lead emergency response operations during public health crises (e.g., disease outbreaks, natural disasters)
- Develop and implement rapid intervention strategies for high-risk populations
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local health agencies for unified response efforts
- Analyze real-time epidemiological data to inform critical decision-making
- Train frontline workers and community volunteers on emergency protocols
- Manage public communication campaigns during health emergencies
- Prepare and maintain emergency response plans and resource allocations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public health emergency response
- Certified in Incident Command System (ICS-300) or equivalent
- Proficient in epidemiological data analysis tools (e.g., SAS, R, Tableau)
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to work irregular hours
- Experience with FEMA/NIMS protocols and grant reporting
- Demonstrated crisis communication skills in diverse community settings
- Ability to obtain security clearance within 30 days of hire
