Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls and incidents with speed and professionalism
- Enforce local ordinances and state laws within Columbus city limits
- Conduct patrols to deter crime and ensure public safety
- Document incidents and prepare detailed reports for legal proceedings
- Collaborate with other agencies during emergency situations
- Provide community education on safety protocols
- Operate emergency vehicles following strict safety guidelines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification
- Minimum 2 years of law enforcement or public safety experience
- Must pass background check, physical fitness test, and psychological evaluation
- Valid Ohio driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire
- Strong communication skills and conflict resolution abilities
