Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public works projects including roads, sewers, and buildings
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with city codes
- Document findings and issue violation notices when standards aren't met
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public infrastructure
- Participate in emergency response during natural disasters
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 5+ years construction inspection experience
- Valid California Inspector certification (ICBO or ICC)
- Strong knowledge of building codes and construction methods
- Proficient in CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and lift 50 lbs
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
