Responsibilities
- Perform on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with city codes and specifications
- Review and approve construction plans, permits, and engineering documents
- Document inspection findings and maintain accurate records in digital reporting systems
- Investigate citizen complaints related to construction activities and infrastructure issues
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for project modifications
- Conduct soil testing and material quality assessments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or public works experience
- Valid Florida Driver's License with clean driving record
- ICBO/ICC certifications (e.g., Plans Examiner, Building Inspector) preferred
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code and municipal regulations
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interactions
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
