Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects for compliance with city ordinances and engineering standards
- Review building plans and permit applications for accuracy and regulatory alignment
- Document inspection findings and prepare detailed technical reports
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve compliance issues
- Enforce safety regulations during construction activities
- Issue permits and violation notices according to established procedures
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding inspection findings
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 3+ years of construction inspection or municipal compliance experience
- Valid Michigan Driver's License with clean record
- ICBO or ICC certifications preferred
- Strong knowledge of building codes and OSHA standards
- Proficiency in CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
