Responsibilities
- Perform routine site inspections for public works projects including roads, drainage, and utilities
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with city codes
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments
- Investigate citizen complaints related to construction issues
- Enforce municipal ordinances and safety regulations
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in construction technology preferred
- 3+ years construction inspection or related field experience
- Valid Kansas driver's license
- ICBO certifications or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and methods
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
