Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Document findings, prepare detailed inspection reports, and maintain accurate project records
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and construction documents
- Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve issues
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations including OSHA and EPA standards
- Monitor project progress and provide technical guidance to construction teams
- Investigate citizen complaints and address construction-related concerns promptly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in construction technology, engineering, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or related experience
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean driving record
- ICBO certifications (ICC certifications) in building or construction inspection preferred
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety protocols
- Ability to interpret technical documents and blueprints accurately
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse construction sites
