Responsibilities
- Inspect construction sites for compliance with city codes and safety regulations
- Review and approve engineering plans and specifications
- Investigate public complaints regarding infrastructure issues
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city officials
- Enforce municipal ordinances related to public works projects
- Provide technical guidance to development teams
- Test materials and structures for quality assurance
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred
- Knowledge of Michigan Building Codes and ADA standards
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and outdoor environments
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background check
