Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction sites for compliance with city ordinances and engineering plans
- Review and approve building permits, zoning requests, and environmental impact assessments
- Investigate citizen complaints regarding code violations and public infrastructure concerns
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate digital records
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical discrepancies
- Testify in administrative hearings regarding code enforcement actions
- Train junior inspectors on municipal inspection protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 3+ years of construction inspection experience in government or regulated environments
- Valid Florida Inspector Certification (FIC) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency with GIS mapping and CAD software
- Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade County amendments
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
