Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, dump trucks, and asphalt equipment
- Assist in stormwater system inspections and erosion control projects
- Support emergency response efforts during severe weather events
- Conduct daily equipment safety checks and preventive maintenance
- Collaborate with survey teams for infrastructure improvement planning
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Experience with heavy machinery operation (CDL Class B a plus)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and techniques
- Strong commitment to public safety and community service
