Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, excavators) for excavation and grading tasks
- Perform manual labor including asphalt patching, sidewalk repair, and debris removal
- Install/maintain traffic control signage and work zone safety barriers
- Assist in storm drain maintenance and water quality improvement projects
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure and document findings
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and city environmental standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Indiana driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Experience operating heavy machinery in construction environments
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of traffic control flagging procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety compliance
