Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy machinery including excavators, bulldozers, and street sweepers
- Perform manual labor tasks including digging, paving, and debris removal for infrastructure projects
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of public spaces, parks, and transportation systems
- Follow strict safety protocols when handling equipment and working in urban environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Document work progress and equipment usage using digital reporting systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid New York State Driver's Class B license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment operation
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and OSHA compliance
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical examination and drug screening
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends during emergency operations
