Responsibilities
- Assist in construction, repair, and maintenance of public infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, parks)
- Operate basic hand/power tools and equipment under supervision
- Perform manual labor including digging, lifting, and material handling
- Follow safety protocols and maintain clean work sites
- Support emergency response during severe weather events
- Collaborate with skilled tradespeople on public projects
- Complete daily equipment checks and maintenance reports
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license preferred (training provided)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic math skills for material measurements
- Reliable transportation to job sites across Jersey City
