Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (street sweepers, graders, trenchers) for municipal infrastructure projects
- Perform preventative maintenance on public facilities, parks, and transportation corridors
- Respond to emergency service requests during inclement weather or civic events
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and municipal environmental regulations
- Document work activities and equipment performance using digital reporting systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement initiatives
- Mentor junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- 3+ years experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification or equivalent
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions
- Basic proficiency with GIS mapping and maintenance software
- High school diploma or GED with technical certification preferred
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and background check
