Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and vehicles including backhoes, graders, and dump trucks safely.
- Perform preventative maintenance on public infrastructure, including road repair and drainage cleaning.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations on active job sites.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments to address infrastructure needs efficiently.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and severe weather damage with urgency and precision.
- Conduct routine inspections of city property to identify potential hazards or repairs needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; vocational or technical training is a plus.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or municipal maintenance is strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
