Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and construction on city streets, sidewalks, and bridges.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as asphalt pavers, rollers, and excavators.
- Inspect drainage systems, catch basins, and sewer lines to prevent flooding and ensure proper flow.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and weather-related incidents promptly.
- Ensure all work sites comply with OSHA safety standards and city regulations.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments to coordinate large-scale infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class C Illinois Driverβs License with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is preferred.
- Knowledge of traffic control procedures and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
