Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of city infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, parks, and storm drains.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, snow plows, and jackhammers, following all safety protocols.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter months to ensure safe travel for residents.
- Inspect equipment and tools for wear and damage; report maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Conduct site inspections to identify potential hazards or code violations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
- Collaborate with other city departments and contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Driver’s License (Class B with air brakes endorsement preferred).
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous labor in all weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to operate standard power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are mandatory.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
