Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of public works divisions including roads, sanitation, and stormwater management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets exceeding $15M annually
- Oversee capital improvement projects from planning through completion
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Colorado state regulations
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies for grant applications
- Lead emergency response operations during natural disasters
- Mentor staff of 50+ professionals through performance evaluations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Public Administration (Master's preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive public works management experience
- Valid Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Proven experience with municipal budgeting and procurement processes
- Familiarity with GIS mapping and infrastructure management systems
- Strong knowledge of federal grant compliance (e.g., FEMA, DOT)
- Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation highly desirable
