Responsibilities
- Collect residential and commercial waste, recyclables, and yard debris along assigned routes in a timely and efficient manner.
- Operate heavy municipal equipment, including rear-loading garbage trucks, front-end loaders, and compactors, ensuring safe handling.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure mechanical safety.
- Interact professionally with residents and businesses while maintaining a positive community presence.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, and city operational procedures.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather events.
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
- Ability to pass a standard pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety.
