Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment and specialized machinery safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency service requests during inclement weather or public safety incidents
- Document work activities, maintain equipment logs, and prepare detailed reports
- Collaborate with engineering and planning departments on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations
- Train junior staff on proper equipment usage and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's degree in civil engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or facility maintenance
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., backhoe, dump truck) or willingness to obtain within 6 months
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems and maintenance best practices
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays during emergencies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Must pass background check and physical fitness assessment
