Responsibilities
- Inspect, repair, and maintain municipal infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, traffic signals, and drainage systems.
- Operate and maintain heavy construction equipment and machinery, including backhoes, graders, and dump trucks, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform preventative maintenance on power tools, vehicles, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Assist in the planning and execution of large-scale municipal projects, including capital improvement and emergency response operations.
- Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental policies.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of work performed, materials used, and equipment status.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other municipal staff to achieve project goals.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; technical trade school certification is a plus.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, and medical examination as required by the City.
