Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty sanitation trucks to collect waste and recyclables along designated routes.
- Empty and load trash bins, dumpsters, and yard waste containers for residential and commercial customers.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of sanitation vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Identify and report street hazards, debris, or illegal dumping incidents to supervisors.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and city ordinances while operating vehicles.
- Interact respectfully with the public and provide excellent customer service regarding collection schedules.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Illinois Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly without assistance.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and equipment operation.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a standard background check.
