Responsibilities
- Operate heavy refuse trucks and collection vehicles to collect and dispose of garbage, trash, and recyclables.
- Perform street cleaning duties, including sweeping curbsides and removing debris from storm drains.
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on collection vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure strict compliance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and city ordinances.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees regarding routes and operational issues.
- Work in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must possess a valid New York State Driver's License.
- Must be of good moral character and character and fitness acceptable to the City.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Completion of the NYC Sanitation Worker Exam (Title 1) is required.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
