As a Municipal Worker, you will operate heavy refuse trucks and perform physically demanding tasks that directly impact the quality of life for over 1.5 million residents. We value reliability, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to public service.
Responsibilities
- Collect and transport residential, commercial, and industrial waste, recycling, and bulk items along designated routes in a safe and timely manner.
- Operate heavy refuse collection trucks, including loading and unloading mechanisms and automated arm controls.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance and report maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the truck cab and loading areas.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors and the public to resolve collection issues and report street hazards.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and municipal guidelines.
- Assist with snow removal and emergency sanitation duties as required during inclement weather.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class C Pennsylvania Driverβs License with a clean driving record (no major violations in the last 3 years).
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 75 lbs repeatedly and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Strong commitment to punctuality, reliability, and teamwork.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and a physical agility examination.
