Responsibilities
- Oversee all municipal record-keeping including vital statistics, meeting minutes, and official documents
- Manage election processes including voter registration, ballot preparation, and polling place coordination
- Administer oaths of office and public notary services for city officials and residents
- Ensure compliance with Massachusetts public records laws and open meeting regulations
- Lead public records requests and document retrieval systems for city departments
- Coordinate with city council on legislative documentation and public hearing logistics
- Manage departmental budget, staff supervision, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years municipal government experience with records management
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation preferred
- Expert knowledge of Massachusetts election law and public records regulations
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Experience supervising staff and implementing administrative workflows
