Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of food establishments, swimming pools, and public water systems
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce regulatory compliance
- Develop and deliver educational programs for community stakeholders
- Analyze environmental data to identify emerging health risks
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate regulatory records
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on public health initiatives
- Mentor junior staff and participate in emergency response protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Valid California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification
- Minimum 3 years of environmental health enforcement experience
- Strong knowledge of California Health & Safety Codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret technical regulations and scientific data
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish highly preferred
