Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive on-site environmental compliance inspections for industrial facilities and agricultural operations
- Analyze water, soil, and air quality samples using advanced laboratory techniques and regulatory frameworks
- Develop and implement pollution prevention plans for regulated entities across South Central Kansas
- Prepare detailed technical reports and enforcement documentation for regulatory actions
- Coordinate with local government agencies and community stakeholders on environmental outreach programs
- Lead emergency response activities for environmental incidents and hazardous material spills
- Maintain accurate regulatory databases and compliance tracking systems
- Mentor junior staff on environmental regulations and inspection protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of regulatory compliance or environmental monitoring experience
- Kansas Environmental Specialist certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in EPA sampling methodologies and laboratory analysis techniques
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of federal (EPA) and state (KDHE) environmental regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and public presentations
- Ability to work independently in field conditions and during emergency response scenarios
