Responsibilities
- Lead GIS Projects: Spearhead the development and maintenance of high-quality maps, datasets, and web applications using ArcGIS and QGIS.
- Data Analysis: Perform complex spatial and statistical analysis to support engineering, land use, and environmental decision-making.
- System Integration: Collaborate with IT teams to integrate GIS platforms with existing county databases and external stakeholders.
- Training & Support: Provide technical guidance and training to staff members on GIS tools and best practices.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Public Outreach: Create clear, visually compelling visualizations for community presentations and public meetings.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS analysis, mapping, or cartography.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, SQL, Python, and web mapping technologies (e.g., ArcGIS Online).
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical thinking and ability to troubleshoot complex spatial data issues.
- Government Experience: Prior experience working within a government or public sector environment is highly desirable.
