Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive GIS databases and map layers for county infrastructure projects.
- Conduct advanced spatial analysis and modeling to support urban planning, environmental management, and public safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to visualize complex datasets through high-quality cartography and web-based mapping applications.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with federal and state geospatial standards.
- Provide technical training and support to county staff regarding GIS tools and best practices.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring timely completion of GIS projects from conception to deployment.
- Perform quality assurance checks on all mapping outputs to ensure clarity and precision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS analysis, cartography, and database management.
- Advanced proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Python scripting.
- Strong understanding of SQL, PostgreSQL, and spatial SQL queries.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Valid California Driver’s License may be required for field work.
