Responsibilities
- Network Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain the city's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) to ensure high availability and security.
- System Administration: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of servers, operating systems, and virtualization technologies.
- Cybersecurity Compliance: Enforce government security protocols, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to IT security incidents.
- Project Leadership: Lead IT projects related to system upgrades, software implementations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- User Support & Training: Provide advanced technical support to city staff and conduct training sessions on new technologies.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met and contracts are managed effectively.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, network engineering, or a similar role within the public or private sector.
- Certifications: Active certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Cisco CCNP are highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, VMWare, and cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Government Experience: Prior experience working with government or municipal systems is a strong plus.
