Responsibilities
- Network Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of local and wide-area network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance for state agencies.
- Cybersecurity Defense: Monitor network traffic for security threats, implement firewall rules, and conduct vulnerability assessments to protect sensitive government data.
- Ticket Resolution: Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues reported by end-users, ensuring minimal downtime and high service levels.
- System Administration: Manage server environments, virtualization platforms, and cloud-based solutions (AWS/Azure) to support critical business applications.
- Project Leadership: Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to deliver IT projects on time and within budget, ensuring alignment with state strategic goals.
- Policy Compliance: Ensure all IT operations adhere to federal, state, and local compliance regulations and security standards.
- Training & Support: Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and government employees on new systems and best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in information technology, network engineering, or systems administration.
- Certifications: Active certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or Azure Administrator are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP), routing, switching, and virtualization technologies.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems efficiently.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Government Experience: Prior experience working within a government or public sector environment is a significant advantage.
