Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance, optimization, and security of the city's core network infrastructure and servers.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (NIST, HIPAA, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new software solutions, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to junior IT staff and department heads.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate service contracts to ensure cost-effective IT solutions.
- Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, network engineering, or a related government IT role.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server environments, Active Directory, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and modern DevOps practices.
- Active CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification is highly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
