We're seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to drive digital initiatives that enhance city operations and resident experiences. As a key member of our Information Technology Department, you'll manage complex IT infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with municipal priorities and compliance with strict government standards. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that serve San Jose's 1 million+ residents.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end IT project lifecycles including Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Manage $1M+ budgets for municipal technology initiatives
- Coordinate with city departments to align projects with strategic goals
- Ensure compliance with CA Public Records Act and cybersecurity regulations
- Vendor relationship management and contract oversight
- Stakeholder communication through executive dashboards and progress reports
- Risk mitigation and contingency planning for critical infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years IT project management experience in government/public sector
- PMP or CAPM certification required
- Expertise in enterprise systems implementation (ERP, CRM, GIS)
- Strong knowledge of CA municipal procurement processes
- Experience with cloud migration and cybersecurity frameworks
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Jira, MS Project, and government reporting tools
