Role Overview:
The Senior IT Systems Administrator will oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers and network systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and security in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex IT infrastructure including servers, virtualization environments, and network hardware.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and perform system upgrades and patches.
- Enforce cybersecurity protocols and conduct regular vulnerability assessments to protect state data.
- Provide high-level technical support and guidance to junior staff and end-users.
- Develop and document disaster recovery plans and ensure business continuity operations.
- Collaborate with vendors to manage contracts, hardware procurement, and service level agreements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are highly preferred.
- Proven experience managing Windows Server environments and Linux distributions.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
