Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain complex local and wide-area network (LAN/WAN) infrastructures to support county operations.
- Oversee network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems to protect sensitive data.
- Monitor network performance using specialized tools to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues with minimal downtime.
- Conduct regular network audits and capacity planning to ensure scalability and meet future demands.
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party contractors to manage hardware lifecycle and software licenses.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers and IT staff.
- Document network configurations, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent military or technical experience accepted.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering, preferably within a government or large enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.
- Proven experience with network security best practices and disaster recovery planning.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various county facilities as needed.
