Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and manage complex network architecture to ensure high availability and security for county systems.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical network incidents, minimizing downtime and service disruption.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement IT projects aligned with county strategic goals.
- Conduct regular network audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain compliance with state and federal standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff and county department personnel.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee network hardware lifecycle management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering or systems administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent military/technical training).
- Valid professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
- Deep knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP) and security best practices.
- Strong understanding of government IT infrastructure requirements and procurement processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
