Responsibilities
- Oversee the calculation and processing of monthly pension benefits for active and retired state employees, ensuring strict adherence to Tennessee Code Annotated and ERISA guidelines.
- Conduct thorough audits of pension records and calculations to identify and rectify discrepancies, minimizing liability and ensuring accuracy.
- Respond to complex inquiries from retirees, beneficiaries, and internal stakeholders regarding eligibility, calculations, and policy interpretation with a high degree of professionalism.
- Collaborate with the Actuarial Department to analyze data trends and recommend improvements to pension plan administration processes.
- Maintain and update internal documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policy memos.
- Assist in the transition of legacy systems to new pension administration platforms, ensuring data integrity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or a related financial services role.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and Tennessee state government retirement statutes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros) and experience with database management systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
